What Size Label Fits an 8 oz Honey Jar?

An 8 oz honey jar does not have a universal label size. The useful measurements are the width and height of its smooth labeling panel. Also check whether “8 oz” describes honey net weight or the container’s fluid capacity; these are different measurements.

Measure the panel, not the whole jar

  1. Stand your actual jar upright and identify the straight area between the shoulder and base.
  2. Measure its usable height. For a shaped jar, measure the width of the front panel rather than assuming a full wrap will work.
  3. Cut a 2 × 3 inch rectangle from paper and hold it against the jar. If it crosses a ridge or curved shoulder, test something smaller.
  4. Check your design at actual size. Leave room for readable text instead of shrinking everything to fill the template.

Compare front and lid labels

A front label and a lid label solve different problems. The front carries your main identity; a lid label can help customers recognize the jar from above. Measure the flat part of the lid inside the rim. Do not choose a circle by the lid’s outside diameter alone.

What about a 16 oz jar?

Repeat the measurements. A larger jar may suit a 2 × 4 inch oval, but a larger capacity does not guarantee a larger flat front panel. The dedicated CrispLabelCo honey label measures 2.5 × 3.5 inches, so check that complete outline against your jar before selecting it.

Match the material to handling

Gloss laminated paper handles scuffs and light splashes but is not waterproof. For a dry display, paper may be suitable. For greater moisture resistance, compare matte BOPP and the sizes available. Test fit and adhesion on the container you will actually sell.
