Matte BOPP or Laminated Paper for Skincare Labels?
Share
Matte BOPP and gloss laminated paper are different constructions. For skincare packaging, the useful question is how the container will be handled: with dry hands, near a sink, or with oils and creams on the fingers.
Matte BOPP: thin film for moisture and oils
BOPP is polypropylene film. CrispLabelCo offers a matte finish without an added laminate layer. Its water and oil resistance makes it a practical starting point for serum bottles, balm jars and bathroom packaging. The film’s resistance does not guarantee that the adhesive or printed surface will perform identically with every formula or container coating.
Gloss laminated paper: protection for lighter exposure
Gloss laminated paper has a clear protective film over paper stock. It helps protect the print from scuffs and light splashes. It is water-resistant rather than waterproof, and is not the right choice for soaking or oily conditions. Matte laminate is not currently offered.
Consider the shape as well as the material
Small bottles and jars leave little margin for oversizing. Keep the label off the shoulder and base curve, and check a lid’s flat area inside its rim. A thin film can follow a smooth curve, but an oversized label crossing a tapered surface may still lift or wrinkle.
Test before labeling the batch
Clean and dry the exterior, apply the label evenly and test the finished packaging under its intended handling conditions. Repeat the test when changing a formula, bottle supplier or coating. Paper templates help with fit; actual material testing answers adhesion questions.
The dedicated CrispLabelCo serum BOPP range offers 1.75 × 3 and 1.75 × 4 inch labels. Cosmetic circles come in 1.5, 2 and 2.5 inch diameters. These dedicated products start at 150 labels, while selected other store products start at 100.
